Trump finally posts “I’M BACK!” on Truth Social.
Former U.S. president Donald Trump wrote a quick remark on Truth Social for the first time since the app he built was released two months ago, declaring, “I’M BACK!” Trump broke his quiet after Elon Musk finalised a $44 billion agreement to acquire Twitter, which had permanently banned him last year due to the potential of more violence following the January 6, 2021 siege of the US Capitol by a pro-Trump mob.
Republicans applauded Musk’s acquisition of the social media platform in the hopes that the Tesla Inc Chief Executive, who has pledged to loosen content filtering policies in order to restore free speech, will invite Trump back to the site.
Since this week’s announcement of the agreement, Trump has stated that he will not return to Twitter. In Thursday’s post, referred to as a “truth” on the app, Trump tweeted, “I’M BACK! #COVFEFE,” alluding to a misspelling in a tweet he issued as president that criticised the press and was widely memed.
Trump’s quiet on his own app since Truth Social’s release on Apple Inc’s app store on February 21 has created concerns over its long-term survival. His son Donald Trump Jr. shared an image of his father’s Truth Social account with one “truth” that he posted on February 14 with the message: “Get Ready! Your preferred President will meet you shortly!”
Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), the parent company of Truth Social, plans to go public via a merger with blank-check business Digital World Acquisition Corp, whose shares rose 7.7 percent in pre-market trading on Friday. The transaction is currently under review by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and is likely months away from completion.
